Welcome
The main purpose for our club is to provide a venue for developing the skill of public speaking. Two corollaries to that goal are to provide a structure and practice for running public meetings and also for running an organization.
We are an official tax-exempt organization registered with the IRS and are a member organization of Toastmasters International.
Please feel free to visit one of our meetings to see if Toastmasters is right for you. We enjoy having guests and will do everything we can to make you feel welcome.
Starting from Labor Day through to Memorial Day, we meet every:
- Friday morning
- from 7:00-8:30am
- at Christina's Bar and Grill in the tavern section to the right after entering the restaurant,
- located at 21382 Highway 160, Durango, CO., about a half mile west of downtown.
At our meetings, members and guests are welcome to order breakfast or coffee, etc. with each person paying for their own order. Dress is business casual. We typically have an attendance of 15 to 20 out of our current membership of about 25 people. Our members are a cross section of La Plata county adults of all ages. One of our members was a founder of the club when it was started in the early 1950's.
Members pay semi-annual dues of $37 (plus an additional $20 for a new member kit when joining). There are no weekly meeting fees.
Want more information about our local club? Feel free to call our current president: Veronica Cortes, 970-541-1268 or email to president@earlybirdtoastmasters.org.
